TD6 oil change durationx

Hello whats the consensus on durations between oil changes on the TD6 engined FFRR. I like to change filters every oil change
On my old 300TDi Disco I used to change the dino oil and filter every 5000km which meant I was doing up to 5 changes a year.
Or do you wait till the car tells you to do a change?

Thanks
Adrian

Ireland 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Buckingham Blue

I read somewhere that the service interval was 20,000 but at some stage this had been shortened. Personally I have been changing the oil every 5,000-6,000 miles for peace of mind. With the suspension raised, its an easy task (except for the cost of fully syn oil of course) I know Land Rover says to go beyond that under normal driving conditions, but I have never waited so long to change the oil in any car.

Again, oil filters for this engine are relatively cheap and easy to access, which means the task of changing the oil alone shouldn't take any more than 30 minutes and well worth the effort I think. Depending on the model, there is a proceedure for resetting the service interval on the dash.

Resetting the Oil Service or Service Interval Message.
Ignition key must be “off”.
• Press and hold the trip odometer button in the instrument cluster (left button), and turn the ignition key to the first position (KLR).
• Keep the button pressed for approximately 5 seconds until one of the following words appear in the display: “OIL SERVICE, or “INSPECTION”, with “reset”.
• Release the reset button and press and hold it again until “reset” begins to flash.
• While the display is flashing, press the left button briefly to reset the service interval.
After the display has shown the new interval, the following will appear: “END SIA

It very much depends on the mileage you do...We service customers cars on a 12 monthly basis except for those that do high mileages and then its changed as per the dash reading which is usually somewhere between 12 and 18K depending on the driving style...

Craig Thumbs Up
