I got the glove box out with a whole load of hassle from chewed allen key bolts but now have the Intravee II connected to the Alpine 410c feeding the 420i for the ipod but I get no text on the screen only CD-01...

Whats wrong?

I don't know what a BM54 is so can someone explain if I need this and a Mk iV DVD player? I read somewhere it needed both of them for text, but is it not only the BM54?

I'm slightly lost so some help other than "use the search" would be greatly appreciated as I'm trying to do a full RSE install too and my fingers are gubbed now basically so am a little low on patience!!

A BM54 is a BMW Radio Module - you do not need one, or a Mk IV DVD Player to get text on the screen for Intravee II.

No idea why text is not working for you. Could you possibly get a simple diagram on MS Paint showing how you have connected things up so far?

turns out it was the DVD player had a switch to turn on, as I think the previous owner though it was draining the battery, anyway all working now using the DVD radio module. Apparently it works from the screen if you have the latets 6.x onwards firmware so join the intravee forum and get it registered with them and they send you the firm ware. the guys were top class on it helping me out but good learning curve etc. all smug in my new plug!

If i remember correctly, it also has settings as to which Nav you run too just in case you were not aware... I.E. Mk2, Mk3 or DVD
