I agree, the green anniversary model seems to have done well. I've got the blue and gold sub, and bought it when my dad died to commemorate him as he was always a Rolex man, despite never being able to afford one. I bought the new 39mm Rolex Explorer 1 a few weeks ago to mark my 50th birthday and I bought an IWC Aquatimer chronograph for no other reason than I liked it! The IWC, despite being much, much rarer than any Rolex, but similar in price to a Sub has depreciated like a brand new RR S/C just out of the showroom, but the Rolex's are still keeping around 75/80% of their value. As you san see, I tend to buy watches for special reasons, and don't really care about their second hand (lol) value. I've been collecting watches for a few years now and to be honest there is only one brand that is an investment and that's Rolex. The vintage Subs just keep going up in value. Daytona prices have firmed up but personally I still think they're over valued and unless it's a specific model then a sub is a safer bet. There has been movement on vintage Heuer's and they're still reasonable at the moment. There are loads of websites to look at. Unfortunately you need an account now to look at the sales area but tz-uk is a great place for advice and most of the people there also post on Pistonheads watch forum. That's not a bad place to start either. I tend to only buy Automatics but I have a few vintage quartz watches. I have a few Omega megaquartz from the early 70's which I think will be a good future investment.

So what would be reasonable money to pay for a Sub Date, box no papers, 1991, some wear?
