The other night, I used my wifes key to open the car to get something out of the garage, which involved having to reverse the car back. Before I selected reverse, I saw an error message flash up:

trans. failsafe prog

Hasn't done it since with either key and it drives fine.

Can anyone shed light? A search on another forum seemed to point to the battery being on its way out of all things 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Low voltage can lead to all sorts of error codes popping up for no good reason so my first guess would be a slightly duff battery . 2008 MY Supercharged

I had this problem a couple of times when picking car up from Valeters. It has never happened with me, so it had to be down to them.
Turns out when moving the car they sometime forgot and turned ignition off when car was in drive. Since they stopped doing this I have had no problem.

HELLO ALL, IM NEW TO THE SITE , MINE DID THIS WHILE ON HOLIDAY, STARTED THE CAR AND SAW THE MESSAGE SO TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, NO MESSAGE........3 WEEKS LATER NEW GEARBOX NEEDED AS THE TORQUE CONVERTER HAD ATE ITSELF AND SHA**ED THE BOX, £2000 LATER NEW BOX AND T/CONVERTER WITH A LIFETIME GUARENTEE , APPARENTLY ITS A COMMON PROBLEM......LAND ROVER NEED TO SORT THIS AS THE CARS HAVE ENOUGH TROUBLE
