I'm in Love (again!)

from the bay of fleas:

Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo

Item no 270793107367

Had a Lotus Elite once (the big one) and can't get the bug out of my system (the one where you spend your life replacing bits under the car every evening!) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

Yup, always loved the Lotus. Europa, Elan, and the big turbocharged one as well. Closest I ever came was a Mark one Escort Twin Cam. Thumbs Up

There's a yellow one in Luzern owned by an old man. He drives literally 15kph under the speed limit everywhere. It's incredibly annoying if you're stuck behind him, and a waste of a car that can actually go around a corner.

Get it! You won't regret it.

A V8 is definitely on my shopping list. Need to wait a couple of years so I've got enough space for it though as it will need to be in addition to my S3T. I've previously sold a car I loved due to circumstances dictating and regretted it ever since so won't be making that mistake again. Sad

I have always loved Lotuses (Loti?) but my one experience of owning one (the Elan S2) lived up to the maxim "LOTUS = Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious". Came very, very close to buying an Esprit but a friend's horror stories rather put me off (he owned the turbo).

I have the best of both worlds. I have a VX220 Turbo, which was made by Lotus, but has a Vauxhall engine - the only thing good about vauxhalls.

I've been driving it to work almost every day since January and had no problems what so ever - apart from the heater doesn't work. Turns out the heater is out of a Land Rover Defender, so Lotus can only be blamed for choosing it in the first place!

It's very noisy, rattles and squeaks everywhere, but is the most fun you can have this side of a motorcycle.

Cheap motoring also, it cost £10k and on my commute does 41 mpg. How many cars that can do 0-60 in 4.7 and 150 mph are that cheap to run?
