2005 4.2 SC coolant leak

Hi all,

Ive been having a coolant leak for a little while which I have finally got around to trying to find. I was hoping I had knocked something when changing the Altenator but it seems the leak is coming from a pipe I can't see.

Looks like its dribbling down from the front of the engine block. Does this point towards the pipes running under the supercharger? Seems to have become a pretty considerable leak as well now.

Is this something I could do on the drive? If not any reccomendations for garages or people around Swindon that could help?

Thanks!

I had a leak at the front of the engine a ew months ago. I couldn't see the source because there is too much stuff there, but it was dripping off the front subframe directly below the oil filter housing.

Anyway, it turns out it was the water pump.

Ah ok. That pretty much sounds the same. Oil filter was soaking.

By the way, when I had mine done, I had the belts and tensioners etc changed as he had to take off some stuff from the front of the engine for the waterpump.

I had issues afterwards with coolant pipes leaking, which I think was because he had to take them off to do the waterpump and they were probably 15 years old, they didnt go back very well! Some O rings were were knackered so I changed a few coolant pipes afterwards.

If I were to do it again, (or get someone else to do it should I say), I would also provide them with as many new hoses as possible. All of them will be old so could probably do with a change anyway!

Thanks for this. I was thinking the same around replacing parts whilst replacing the Waterpump.

Just to update anyone searching for this. It was indeed my water pump leaking so it has been replaced.

Belts have also been changed but not pulleys.

Annoying they have now found a gearbox oil leak from the cooler pipes. Onto to the next job! Laughing
