Map Updates not Updating

Did my usual monthly download to my usual USB stick but the car simply isn't picking it up when I try to update. Tried a completely new drive just now and still zilch, maps are on the drive but the car just isn't having it, it usually 'sees' a UsB with updated maps and starts the process of downloading. One thing I did notice was that IC map downloader was saying that drive wasn't formatted to MS-DOS and would I like to reformat so did as asked but - nothing.

Anyone else having similar issues and if so how did you resolve it? Thanks. 2017 Vogue SE

It might not be the same, but I tried to update the maps a couple of times without success, then it worked when I:

1) Switched the engine on
2) Waited for the infotainment system to boot up
3) Plugged the USB stick in
4) Selected maps from the main screen (when it’s in 3 sections)

That worked first time. I didn’t do point 4 the other times, but might have been coincidence! MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Cheers, that's exactly what I've done previously but it's just not doing anything now, I'm completely perplexed. Going to reformat the drive and try again. 2017 Vogue SE

Cheers Gremlin. I use a MacBook and I'm now downloading the files again after reformatting. Interestingly (and I use the word loosely), i reformatted it to FAT 32 using disk utility but when I went to download the maps it said the stick wasn't formatted properly and would I like to reformat. Done that (again) so let's see what happens.

I'm mildly frustrated as I'm not doing anything different to what I've done for the last four years, had an RRS previously, so very odd. I have Waze anyway but as I've paid for updates up to Feb 23 I'm a bit miffed. 2017 Vogue SE

You can format as FAT (actually, FAT16) if the size is 4GB or less, if your USB stick is bigger use the DISKPART command.

Nope, not having it. Reformatted it and redownloaded the files but nothing. Sigh. 2017 Vogue SE

@Spleen,

Pheonix is right, NOT fat32, just FAT (= FAT16)

An iMac or MacBook can offer this, (but not a Windows 10 PC).

Or, try erasing the drive partition completey, and inserting the empty drive, IIRC the download tool will offer to format the stick, so choose this and re-download the map & try again. Good Luck!

Aye, it won’t let you download anything unless the drive is reformatted by the tool anyway so it’s original state is largely irrelevant. I can download it just fine, it’s just that the car isn’t picking it up. Brand new 64gb, not used for anything else. 2017 Vogue SE

No idea to be honest, don’t own a voltmeter. Tailgate fine albeit that it thumps rather than gently closes. ‘They all do that sir.’ Not on my wife’s RRS it doesn’t. Dealers.

I’ll have another go later and if it still doesn’t work, take it to the dealer. It needs some minor warranty work anyway so will kill three birds with one stone. 2017 Vogue SE

Try a smaller USB stick, it may be too large to be recognised properly

Still no luck, bored with it now. I'll see what happens when I download a Jan 23 update and go from there. As an aside I just got back from a 2500 mile jaunt down to Croatia and back, no static camera alerts in France or Germany now. 2017 Vogue SE

My God, this is bloody frustrating. I decided today to delete the car from the IC Route landrover.here.com site and reregister but will it let me? Will it Censored . I keep adding the correct VIN, it then says I have a connected car but when i go back to download the maps it says I don't have a vehicle linked with this account FFS. When I go to the car, it logs in just fine. Aaaaargh!

I've not had a single problem in the last five years with my previous RRS and, up until now, the last 10 months with The Fat (for that is his name). I've used the same 64gb stick throughout this time and now suddenly it's gone wibble. Boring! 2017 Vogue SE
