I am new to the Range Rover family, but I have done some extremely heavy repair work on Mercedes and Crewe built Rolls-Royces, so I am fairly strong in my abilities.

From the time that I got my RR (2011 HSE 5.0), the drivers seat wouldn’t move.

I plugged in the scanner, and cleared the fault codes. I proceeded to run a recalibrate on the seat. This caused the seat back to go straight up and tilt all the way forward. The switches are still dead.

There is a permanent fault code of B1087-87 (LIN BUS A).

The car has a new battery so that shouldn’t be the issue.

Does anyone have any insight?

Is the seat switches the only thing not working? If so, it could be that the switch pack is faulty or possibly the seat switch connectors are loose.
My first thought would be to remove the switch pack from the seat and check the connectors. It could be as simple as a loose connection or the switch pack could be faulty. You could even try getting hold of a second hand switch pack or, if you know someone with a range rover, borrow a known good switch pack to test the wiring.

Thank you for that! Just curious, how does the switch pack come out?

One oddity is that the scan tool showed that the module was only receiving 7.5 volts, whereas every other module in the car is at 13. So that could be part of the issue.

I believe you have to remove the seat valance to get to the switch pack, but it's not an easy job as there are tabs on the valance that are too easy to break. I think the valance is secured by a screw at the back of the seat.
It may be worthwhile having a look under the seat whilst it's in place and seeing if there are any connectors visible. If so you can check if they're fully connected and maybe disconnect them and give them a clean with contact cleaner.

Fixed!

That balance is a complete arse to remove, especially when the seat is all the way down, and isn’t mobile.

It was a broken power wire leading to the switches.
