Other project car thread

So we all have a love for our ffrrs but what other projects do we have on the go. Only one I've got is this subaru impreza bugeye.
This is how it started pretty much as an empty shell

And this is where its at now.

Few bits of wiring, side skirts and then hopefully it's ready too have the engine fitted.

What projects do you all have. Where did they start from and where they currently at

Restoring this Freelander 1 for ourselves

Then pulling the running gear out our other FL1, a 1.8 K series turbo with 200bhp

Then fitting a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and bigger intercooler. Aiming for 250bhp Laughing

A random purchase around new year 2017 (I can assure you that it was not a random gumtree purchase after alcohol…..probably!?!), from a dealer breaking it for parts, I made him a daft offer and ended up with it in Dorset not running and had to get it trailered to a specialist! Turned out to be really rare six cylinder version, spares can be a pig for the engine but it sounds glorious! Got to fit rear bench seats and headliner then paint. Biggest issue for me is someone painted over the galv cappings so trying to work out how to get the paint off without damaging the galv!

Rather fancy a silver shadow and an exige at some point 😀

A few people have fitted a K Turbo to the Elise. Apparently it's a brilliant upgrade Thumbs Up

Currently restoring a 205 GTI 1.9 - hoping to have it on the road in the spring.

My daughter and I already did most of the engine and interior rewire and refit. And before Christmas we picked it up from paint and rust repair.

Just finishing off the interior now, got some new seats over Christmas and managed to track down the original fabric that arrived from Germany. Also been restoring the lights in all switches in the dashboard.

We bought it originally for my daughter to learn to drive in.

And then there is a second project in the form of a BMW E30. It was supposed to be an intermediate car for my daughter whilst her golf was in the body shop. But instead of selling it, I’m actually keeping it for a bit. Already one of the cleanest examples in the UK, we changed the suspension a little bit and put some decent wheels on it. But as I’ll be driving it, I may adapt a few other things. Still keeping it clean so we can get it back to stock easily.

In two minds with my recent purchase of this Saxo VTR….Gumtree roulette without seeing it but feel like I’ve lost!

Boot floor gone as are inner wings. Been off road for over 12 years but it does start and drive.

Getting some pressure to scrap it as it makes the drive look untidy but a bit of me wants to keep it.

Yes the values do seem to be on the rise however so is the cost of some very hard to come by parts.... The oil filler housing for example you could buy from any parts suppliers a few years ago for about a tenner. £70 now for a copy..!! Some body repair panels are now also unobtanium - thankfully mine is / was rot free.

That mk2 Golf and E30 are fantastic - had both in a number of guises back in the day. Great work Thumbs Up

Loving that 205 GTI as well. If I had the space I would have one.

I know what you mean regarding parts. The Golf MK2 is relatively easy although speaking German helps. The E30 is becoming really hard. Especially body panels. Sadly my daughter hit water and drifted part several exits on a roundabout and got to a hold against a metal pole. No rear quarter panels anywhere Sad I’m having an old fashioned panel beater restoring it now as it’s too nice to just throw away.

Whilst I continue to deliberate over my next RR (or maybe a Macan), I have this as my little project run-around. Work to date.... not all done by me I hasten to add Laughing :-

Split radiator hose replaced
Replacement water pump
Replacement SIM card reader, so now has google maps on the Sat Nav and hotspot capability
Software upgrade so now has JLR Apple CarPlay and updated graphics
Installed the all important 'S' badges that were missing
Initial clay and polish (will do the ceramic coat in Spring 2022)

Model - Jag XF Supercharged V6 petrol

Goes like a stabbed rat! Shocked Laughing

Those Saxo’s (VTS and VTR) are written up as being the next hot hatch to rise in value!, probably worth a check as to projected values vs cost to repair!
