Pixel LED's with Auto High Beam Assist Overrated?

I've recently collected my new L405 5.0 AB which came with Pixel LED's and Auto High Beam as standard - Is anyone else a bit disappointed with these features, or is it just me?

It illuminates the n/s hedges and ditches very well but on the road directly ahead of you, it seems to throw out less light than normal headlamps when driving directly behind another car.

Plus I find this constant changing of illumination more of an annoyance than a benefit - For one moment the way ahead is brightly lit, the next second the light begins to deteriorate. I find my eyes are constantly having to adapt to which section of the road the car decides to dim next.

Also, it doesn't always seem to allow for trucks and their higher driving position, I've been flashed a few times already by larger oncoming vehicles which seem to think I still have my full beam on.

Anyone else found the same?

Interesting thoughts AJ, one of my disappointments with my 405 is the head lights, particularly distance on high beam and so was hopeful for the lights on the 460. letters not necessarily in the right order

Compared to the auto beam on a BMW I have, the RR system is far less effective and noticeable whilst driving, as you describe. MY23 D350 HSE

I had laserlights on my 750i and the RR ones don’t have the range or breadth, but they do have a bit more separation / adjustment and I’ve never been flashed, which was something that happened from time to time in the BMW. Presumably because they were so bright. I’m happy with them.

I don’t have any issues with them in operation either, but had the same tech since 2014 so well used to it now and they’re really missed when I drive a car without them. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

I’ve got nothing to compare them with, but I rather like them.

The first gen auto dip was pretty hopeless but I think these are good, max light all the time.

At first I was convinced I’d be flashed but never have been.

Thank you all for your comments.

Maybe I just need to get used to them - I appreciate that the level of light at times is improved, but when they dip back down in sections, it's that reduction in light that I then notice most, and for me, actually makes visibility feel further reduced than normal.

Maybe I'll get used to them, or maybe I need glasses for more than just reading!!

I think you'll get used to them. Thumbs Up My only problem sometimes is dark country lanes when the auto doesn't come in until over 25mph which can be a bit disconcerting. All LR cars from 1984

The L405 Pixel Laser lights were a huge disappointment for me. The Audi equivalents are significantly better.
