There is a rattle / clanging over really bumpy roads that Im trying to get the source of on my L322.

I've inspected all the bushings as best I can, and Id say the bushings in the front lower control arms look like they need replacing. Id also say replacing the lower control arms are the current best bet at eliminating the noise.

What is the general view on quality of bushings and arms available on eBay and Amazon in comparison to dealer parts? What should I be looking out for before committing to the purchase?
...in South Africa, so returning something that doesn't look right only when it gets here is not ideal if I want the car ready for summer holiday.

Ofcourse, as I'd be making my way through replacing all the bushings in the future, the question around quality and how to choose the right ones applies as well, so this is not necessarily only a front lower control arms question. 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I always worry about ebay suspension stuff unless it's a known make and/or supplier. If you can guarantee the quality off the "net" then fair enough.
I believe there's a lot of chinese copies out there that really aren't fit for purpose.
You could ask Advanced Factors on here if they ship to SA, at least using these guys it's good stuff.

Depends how long you plan on keeping it....

If you only want to do the job once then fit genuine, anything else will not last long...

I changed the bushes in the old arms once, had full workshop facilities including a 30ton press...

I won't be doing it again, the hassle is not worth the saving IMHO...

Have you checked the drop links, they are the usual culprit for front end clonks...  Pete

With age etc if I was keeping it I would f#£k bushes off and change arms with new bushes, used Delphi in the past with good success. Lemforder also decent. I recently changed the upper and lower rear hub bushes using a dedicated bush removal kit.



If my appointment tomorrow says it’s a cyst or similar, and not testicular cancer I will have to do subframe bushes at some point this year too.

As said before, if your keeping it avoid unbrand stuff, these cars are brutal on bushes and will chew threw anything other than OEM apart from i guess polybush etc..
