Inflatable roof bars???

Does anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with inflatable roof bars and soft bags, such as this?:

https://www.handiworld.com/soft-roof-boxes-roof-bars/

I don’t have roof rails or a tow bar, nor do I particularly want them. It would be a solution for a trip to Scotland that my daughter and her boyfriend are threatening to come on. Thumbs Up

I would imagine that if it rains the road muck and rain would get under them and seriously mark your paintwork, even terminally damage it if you went far enough..... just my 2p... Pete

Good point. I have the Panoramic roof, so that could also be a potential negative.

I agree with Haylands - inflatable bars sound very dodgy and almost certain to damage paint.

I'd look for some roof bars that bolt into the fixed points on the roof. Bish.

On paper it seems like a good idea, in reality, looks dodgy, and agree with Haylands on the paint aspect.

Would not like to have a puncture at motorway speeds, probably a very small chance, but just when you thought your holiday was going well, it could be a case of - What was that noise? Big Cry

Shocked I wouldn't want to be putting any weight directly onto the pano roof - surely that's just asking for trouble ?

@Stan - love the inflatable & this needs moving to the L405 section Confused

I can’t find any that state they can be used with the Pano roof. Although that might be the manufacturers paranoia.

Tsk! I would have hoped that a man of your Standing (see what I did there?) would have recognised that that is obviously an Ewok! Tsk indeed! Bish.

I know Toby the owner of Handirack from previous business connections, I believe his product is the original, The product he supplies is of good quality compared with later copies & never had an issue with those that I retailed. However they are very limited as to what you can carry on them, it was really designed for occasional use or for an emergency measure to get something home from IKEA etc.

It only connects via a webbing strap through the car, don’t think it would cause any issues on a pano roof as its load capacity is quite low.

Hope that helps?

Thanks Dave. Thumbs Up

It would be using their own bag and for light but bulky items such as coats and bedding. I’d lay microfibre towels under the tubes.
