Again agree with what you are saying. They could have kust given it back in all fairness they are under no obligation etc. I appreciate the work just maybe the comms has been minimal and confusing but maybe thats my issue. Ok, with all the tests we have carried out, I am almost certain that the camshaft timing on Bank1 is atleast 1 tooth out. The ignition timing appears to be atleast 54Degrees retarded, The following oscilloscope waveform Shows that the Ignition coil trigger (Green) is occurring well before the peak Cylinder pressure (yellow) and this should be happening almost simultaneously with large gap on the Crankshaft sensor (Blue)

Unfortunately, this is as far as electronic diagnosis will let us go, and therefore we will need authorisation from you to remove the rocker cover on that bank and mechanically check the camshaft timing, please keep an eye out in your inbox for an estimate to do this.

So what does this graph mean?
Rocket cover is that just the engine tops?

The rocker cover is the valve cover on the top of that cylinder head. Removing it will allow them access to the timing gears for that cylinder head.

They will be able to check if everything is timed properly by pinning the crankshaft where the crankshaft position sensor would normally live and checking that the timing on that particular bank is correct.

Actually just re-read it. So yellow and green spikes should overlap and trigger at same time but they are out of sync do would need realignment?? Current Cars

Least you've managed too get an answer on it mate unlike the others.

From what I can under stand, the green, yellow and blue should all be in line with each other to create its peak performance level so if the timing is 1 tooth out its going to be out of line creating the peak performance power hence the miss fire as its not at its happy stage if that makes sense

Yes totally get it. How would it go out of line? Age/time or someone sickikg about with it like the previous owner?

Could be if someone done the chain and didn't time it properly. Could have happened if the chain was worn out and jumped a tooth. Always a thousand reasons why it could have happened I guess. Its upto you mate what you do going forward. Only thing I would say tho is just stick with the one garage for stuff you cant do yourself. Martin might not be the cheapest but you pay for more with martin then a plug and go jobbie with most garages. You'll love it tho when you get the car back and you can hear the charger scream with power

I have given martin the go ahead. It is probably more than I wanted to pay but you are right. I took it to a garage whenI first bought it and paid £1050 and think now I probably overpaid anddidnt need an item or 3.

Lets see how it is when I get it back. Hooefully this week.

I had my Bentley GT for 3 years not a thing went wrong with it although the annual service was £800 🙈. Guess no matter what car you own it will cost.

At least you’re heading in the right direction.

If you’re getting a rattling from under the bonnet, it might be worth asking Martin to run it with the supercharger belt disconnected as I’ve done that with mine and found the supercharger is the source of my rattle, not the engine.

If its jumped a tooth the likelihood is that the timing chains, are stretched and need replacing, hopefully someone has already done them and made an arse of it....

Going by who sold it I would say they made a pig's ear of it. Hopefully, nothing else is needed as I don't want to keep shelling out on it.
