Think it's mostly down to how lazy a lot of people have become and simply assume the reader is correct. I changed the rocker covers on mine a few weeks ago. Had a flat battery so AA called but its running a bit rough. Can hear it on the exhaust it sounds likr its misfiring, plugs it in n he reckons the injector id at fault as the codes are for the injector or the wiring. Look at it thr next day n the injector wasn't even connected |

At least they’re getting a car in to compare with yours rather then just assuming there’s a fault with yours and starting to swap parts out and charging you for them.

When I took the car in I did tell them these were the issues so we knew it was bank1 and missfires on all cylinders. They can say they dont know why it is. But to have the car for 9 days and to tell me exactly what I told them. I am really struggling here with a reaponse to them without flipping a lid. So I have to pay for diagnostics on somethimg that I had already diagnosed for them??

Think the trouble is mate, any garage would have too do their own fault finding. I guess it's the trouble when you take it too garage A and they say yea it's this, then can't fix it, then garage B say its this so do that and your no better off etc. I get your pretty hacked off mate. If it was me I'd just leave it with them and see what they say when they've had the other motor in. You'll get an answer from them at the very least with what the issue is despite the time |

The waveform is the signal that the cam and crank sensors send back to the ECU so that it knows what the engine is doing.

If its any help too you mate, when mine was in I only got charged 2 hours diagnostic time but Martin had it 4 days so I'm 99% confident you ain't being charged per hour while it's in there. Martin and Sean will call you too discuss prices etc and where too go. It's like mine I've got two choices. Either have the chain redone when it was only done 15k ago or spend £150 and get the fault mapped out. The eml light is on as its advanced by 1° so as Martin said it's a lot of money for no real gain etc but we can get around it so to speak |

Sounds like Martin is doing his best to find the fault by comparing to another vehicle. Patience.

@bean. That is reassuring. As I have not had much clarity thus far I am a little wary of a ‘that be £1500 sir’ and not have fully fixed. I think I have done that already. It hurts.

if he is going to the trouble to get another vehicle in then he must think he is onto something being the root cause of the miss fire. and we all know miss fires can be a ight mare to pin down once all the usual suspects are ruled out.
