Expect repairs to last 18 months before blisters start to come back. Replacement is the only real cure. |

Try and find a second hand tailgate from a pre 2006 car. |

I got my 2011 car in Jan 2015.... and that seam had already been worked on by someone and the paint done.

I bought my 2011 in 2015 (so 4 years old ) and the upper tailgate was so rusty that they didn’t even argue when I pointed it out , they just said ,we will replace it under warranty.

My 2010 when I bought it was rust free and the first job I did was use Dinitrol inside tailgate so far so good 7 years and still good |

BMW era RangeRover tailgates can last at least 16 ¹/₂ years rust free that I know of. |

My 07 and 12 were both replaced under warranty due to rust. Chartwells who did them filled both with cavity wax and neither rusted again in the time I had them.

My 2011 one was replaced under warranty a few months before it expired due to same reason , filled the new one with wax so hopefully won't be an issue again . |
