If they're saying they will remove the hinge then bolt it back up, then that does seem to suggest that the leak is between the hinge plate face and the body. The fact that they use clear silicon sealant also backs up this assumption. You'll soon be able to tell i would imagine, when you get the car back and have a look at their work.

No solid conclusion on why it was leaking. How can a hinge cause a leak? Press them harder. Especially at their hourly rate Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Plenty more rain on the way apparently. So i guess you'll be able to report back with some good news on the water leak, or lack off now. 2006 4.2 SC |

All that along with not properly re-connecting the dvd player nor resetting the bluetooth module. Absolutely appalling. Tech needs a kick in the ar$e, workshop manager not doing his job and a serious chat with the service manager is well in order. 2006 4.2 SC |

Yeah it’s very disappointing and amateurish. My bill was £763 you think that they would get it right 1st time.

Sorry to hear that Daz but it's just another reason not to use main dealers. If you think about it, small independent specialists are the business owner so their customer service and delivery has to be spot on are the business will fail. This is NOT the case with main dealers

Was this fixed in the end mate? Think I have the same problem (boot carpet getting wet on the LHS). Had to get a new amp a few months ago because it was soaked and bust it. Solved with a bin bag over the top of all the electrics once i'd put the new one in.

So ignoring the issues the main dealer have caused in terms of the tailgate alignment and trim fitting and not plugging in DVD player properly etc They did fix the water leak. The best way for you to test this is to completely strip the electrics out of the left hand side compartment, and also remove the d pillar trim with speaker in. This trips just pulls off. There is a clip in each corner. Then get someone to sit in boot or you can look yourselves and try a hose pipe directed at the left hand hinge. I believe mine was coming down through the holy holes or underneath the mating face. You can then remove one hinge at a time and seam seal underneath it and then around it. Just make sure you get the tailgate alignment right when you re bolt hinges. Regards Daz ------------------------- 2011 (61plate) 4.4 tdv8 sumatra black previous cars e46 m3 e53 x5 |

did your poppy crackly amp sort itself out when it dried? Mine is ac couple of years older than your but the PO had removed the water drains I assume because of a leak similar to yours. I will check that out now I found this post but we dipped the car to launch my boat the other day water probably came up 40-50cm at the back and water went IN the drains (that I was unaware were out) and soaked my amp - luckily everything else seems ok but this did you cracklypopping sound I unplugged it within about 5 mins just wondering how long to givee it and if there's any hope Current stable:
