I bought the car from a Police Auction as a non runner. I suspect that the car was running when it was seized because it was for a section 165 motoring offence which is basically tax insurance MOT or licence related. It had an MOT so that leaves the rest.

When I collected it I was told that they had a Auto electrician look at it and it was probably the ignition switch. They had pushed the button under the dash and cross wired the starter so it wanted to go.

When I got it I basically asked a few questions on here and Mikey was very helpful and it seemed the ignition switch was the fault. So a new switch was ordered.

The switch arrived today and after fitting it there was no difference. After some thought and understanding that it was an electrical issue I started with the fuses and thought I would check each one with a multimeter to ensure they were sound. In doing this I noticed that a 5amp fuse was missing, as soon as this was replaced the oil inspection light came on on the dash. Tried to start it and there was nothing. Looked again and found another 5 amp fuse missing so replaced that and tried again, absolutely no difference. Looked more closely and saw that one of the big 30amp fuses was missing. Replaced that and the engine started to turn over slowly,

Jump started it off my HSE and she fired and ran, a little rattlely at tick over to begin with but she eventually settled down and everything was fine. Took the car off my trailer, as I hadn't bothered moving it since I got it home and took it for a blast along the road. Big huge grin from ear to ear.

Problem now is I need to get tax and a logbook which in the current climate isn't easy. Current cars

Getting it taxed is easy .. if you have a green slip you can do it online
If not the post office still tax vehicles if you don’t have the v5 or new keepers slip .
It’ll take a while for the V5 , you’re spot on there ... been waiting weeks for a 1st registration of an imported bike to come back 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

I applied for the logbook on a Discovery 2 about 3 weeks ago and there is nothing here yet. Normally I get them quicker. My brother has been waiting since early April for a Fiat 500.
I will try the Post Office tomorrow with the V62 but did this with another Discovery 2 at the beginning of the year andcouldn't do it as it hadn't been notified that it was in the trade. That was another Police seizure so am not hopeful. Current cars
