The manufactures of the gearbox and the car maker don't use or recommend any additives....

As Pete says, put in whatever you feel happy with. Dexron is fairly straight-forward stuff, and the only downside of going from Dexron III to VI is the lower viscosity – especially if your transmission is getting worn and the clearances are high.

Your petrol Rangie has a different gearbox and uses different oil to the OP's diesel one...!! I did a lot of reading on the comma web site about their oils, how many times the company has changed hands etc, their own oil blending plant, going since 1965 etc etc https://www.commaoil.com/about/history Was happy about the research so decided to switch from my usual Castrol to this brand. (also much cheaper on the account) I think due to these gearboxes being right on their limit on the range rovers they were dumped into, I think i'll use the stop slip, not the whole bottle. I'll ring the specialist again to find out how much they put in, they may only put 6 or 12oz or so and not the full 24oz bottle. |

Its not just what they write at the side of an oil can, If the gearbox specialists who rebuild the GM5 and the ZF5 only all day every day say that they use the same stuff that I purchased then I think they know what there talking about as well ??
