Australia 2004 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Rated recovery points for 2004 RR L322

G'day All,
I have done a search and failed to find anything about Rated Recovery Points for 2004 Range Rover. Does anyone on the forum sell them or know where I can purchase a pair for the front in particular?

I am pretty sure the tow point in the centre of the car is heavily rated and good enough for a snatch. Use a receiver tongue in the rear . Always use a damper you dont want to kill yourself or others

According to my user manual both on and off road flat tow points only. No mention of being able to handle snatch type pressure

Only hearsay however I used to do lots of hardcore offroading with the AULRO group and there were some very knowledgeable guys there. Some trips demanded rated recovery points for admission, P38a`s not allowed, L322s OK. I would not use the rear tow eye only as a recovery hitch is so easy to attach and is central. Have you had a look at the front tow eye, its no tie-down point. 2007 TDV8 VSE

My handbook states rear eye can be used in off-road recovery situations, front eye cant be used to tow caravans or trailers. I have both snatched and been snatched and winched from the front eye with no dramas but always take care and nothing to violent. Your call I think, I have seen nothing aftermarket sold or fitted only D3 bullbars that will never have compliance approval. Hard Range was tricking up a TD6 long ago, see if you can find any info from them, if anyone has done it, they would. 2007 TDV8 VSE

Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Corris Grey

The eye at the middle front seems fine, I've been pulled out when 'bellied' in the mud in my 2004 car using that. I recall the handbook warning about being pulled out from the rear as regards possible gearbox damage, you might want to check that before doing that. As I have a towbar I would attach to that at the rear, so have not needed to try anything else. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Have a look at Harry's Garage on You Tube, his review of the L322 for daily use. In the clip he mentions something about the design rating of the tow points and their snatch load. He is a special adviser to JLR and the editor of Evo magazine, so I think he has some pretty good info (although I did have to correct him on something, have a look at the comments Smile). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks very much for that youtube video. According to Harry's Garage the front hook is rated at 7 tonne, so well enough for snatching and being snatched.

Thanks GGDR for that information but I have the back covered with the hitch block with D shackle. Just the front was my target.
