DPF diary B.B.

Just thought it worth sharing my latest DPF figures, just for comparison.

I have just returned from a few days in North Wales, basically 125miles motorway each way with a couple of local stop start mid way.
Home 17.5g
LLanberis 19.0g

So 1.5 g increase in 125 miles.
Local stop/start ( 4miles) 19.4g
Return trip
Peaked at 19.5g
Down to 2.1g soon after joining A55 (70mph dual carriageway)
4.7g back home.

Have you ever had a yellow DPF light come up? Just wondered why you’re worried about monitoring the numbers?

Rob,
I have never had a DPF warning light of any colour, but I do a lot of local stop- start trips and like to know when it’s getting over 17g so that I can plan a good burn trip.

No I didn’t go to Pete’s Eats, but my daughter has just moved into a new house a few yards from it , so will be visiting regularly and will no doubt give it a try.
We did a brilliant walk yesterday afternoon ,in glorious sunshine, all the way around Llyn Padarn.
It has got its ups and downs on the far side., but well worth the effort.

I got off the A3 a few days back and it really smelt hot. It’s a very distinctive odour. IID showed soot was very low (1.9g I think) so I reckon it had just done a nice big burn 🔥🔥👍 Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thumbs Up The exhaust temp was showing 625-630 deg for over 5 miles, which is pretty hot Thumbs Up

I have my iPad mini Bluetooth connected to my Gap iid and select the relevant live values, then just take screen dumps to keep a diary.

I do both short trips and long trips (for example today did about 60mls each way)but seldom went over 70mph Whistle which means the revs were only about 1300 will this still do "the burn"? Geoff

Yes, but you should also regularly rag it above 2500rpm to get the second turbo working and clear the crap out of the engine. Nothing to do with DPF but such a lazy engine they rarely get the taps opened up fully Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Geoff,
Speed is not important, nor are revs... just keeping a steady throttle setting is though.
If you can set the cruise control to 60mph on a motorway run for 10- 15 minutes ( miles) passive regens will keep your soot levels down, but when they get over 19g then the car will activate an active regen where fuel is injected and burns in the DPF, bringing the temps to 620-30 c and the soot level falls rapidly into single figures down to 2-3G.
It’s a bit addictive watching it happen, but I have got to know exactly how my car is doing, so once it gets down low I ignore it for 2-3 weeks before monitoring it again.

Sounds good to me, Very Happy

How do you define as rag it? a nice country lane making use of the paddles and keeping the revs above 2500 ? or finding a nice "private" road that high speed can be maintained? For either how long for?

In the New Year, I will have to check mine for a week and see how it goes, as I have a daily 85 Mile commute , 80 Miles of it on Mway.
I like this sort of thing.

Yep, I do that using the paddles to knock it down a few gears on the motorway Thumbs Up as this forum has made me paranoid about not having done the Turbo Drain Mod. Geoff
