Gutted - turns out this car doesn't have any service history! No invoices, nothing Got my heart set on that one. I know condition should trump service history, and apparently it is very good on that front. But zero history?! It is probably a lost book, but regardless, I can imagine how hard that would be to sell later on. Interesting, as a few people said on here is was already too expensive, James at the Vogue Centre said it would be £23k+ if it had history. No history, especially from a large dealer is definitely a big 'no-no'. Very surprised they are selling it without history or at least tried to salvage some history from the previous owners somehow.

Yes it surprised me to be honest, apparently they are known for supplying very good examples. Seems to be asking quite a lot of money for one with no history though. Shame, as aside from that it is perfect. Was planning to go up there tomorrow and would've put a deposit down |

This is a really good overview! Also add the air suspension that will likely go at some point? I am a little bit in the same position as OP. I can buy a car with 100k miles that has had all of the above done (incl. air suspension) or a car with 75k miles but has only had the drive belt replaced. Price is the same for both and they have both been very well maintained. So question I guess; is it worth giving up miles for peace of mind that all big tickets have been done? I know there is an impressive list of "max miles" on here but is there a limit to where you would not buy a car? Would you for example consider buying a 2010 car with 140k miles? For me, I think I would rather have the car with the higher mileage that had all the required work carried out, that would mean I would have many miles to drive trouble free rather than having to think/plan for the future work to take place. There seems to be a bit of a hang up on mileage, condition and maintenance history are far more important. |

140k on a 9 year old car isn't particularly excessive. I had a Jag Sovereign 2.7 tdiv6 with 242k when I sold her & I would have taken her anywhere. A 10 plate CLS 3.0 tdv6 with 180k, again faultless. I've got an old Galaxy that according to DVLA has 300k & still going. One of the forum members bought a 10 plate 4.4 TDV8 with 300k miles at a very good price, had a few issues, but nonetheless less look what he got for his buck!

100k miles is a psychological barrier not a mechanical one.

Or just buy my 2002 4.4l v8 non autobiography with 96k miles for not much over the £2k that you were looking at saving matey.
