Wiper angle 86 degrees

How do you get the optimum wiper angle of 86 degrees ?

I’ve downloaded a printable protractor and drawn a line and cut the 86 degrees out. So now I have half a protractor on paper.

Now if I sit the straight cut along the windscreen where do o place it on the wiper arm or blade? Regards

Daz

It's in the WM

Body and paint/wipers and washers/10 wiper pivot arm

and /2 locations.

Have only skimmed the words, but looks fun Smile

If you do it give us all a write up Thumbs Up pleeeease. Cheers

I think I could maybe just use the printed plain paper version. So long as the 86 degree cut is straight.

Home made alignment tool. Interestingly the driver one seems to be correct?

Well my wipers seem to be at the correct angle. Lol.

So not sure why the drivers side makes that noise. It is only slight. I’m just trying to get them 100% silent.

If we ever finish rebuilding the L322 rear end, then changing the wipers is next on the list.

IIRC my current blades judder and stutter horribly!

Will replace with aero, love them on the ML.

PS, which came first, designer specifying 86°, or poor mechanic trying to sort out first customer complaint and letting slip his conclusion?

Best, Rich

Nice one Daz Bow down

Like your PS.

Wonder what the neighbours would think if we did that on the street? Cheers

EDIT:: Wipers do not have any adjustment for the angle.. older 2009 and before wiper arms do but new ones dont have anything the angle is fixed..

So when I used my custom tool to measure the wiper angles. I noticed the passenger side was a little out but drivers was spot on 86.

At the time I thought the passenger side was the silent side and the drivers side was the noisy side. Tonight the thud annoyed me so I did a little test.

I lifted the drivers wiper blade so it was in the air and did a wipe. This was still there.

Then repeated the wipe but with passenger side lifted and drivers side back down. Silence lol.

So now I can use my custom tool to set the passenger side wiper.

Question can I just undo the nut on the passenger side and adjust the angle??. Regards
