Fixed pano to opening sunroof?

Has any one does a conversion from the fixed pano roof to the opening sunroof?

Would have thought the opening is the same, so maybe a relatively simple fit?

Was thinking of getting one off a scrap car and swapping. Am assuming the opening for a fixed pano is exactly the same so should drop in, and add switch gear and motor.

Cost wise - scrap sunroof probably 1000 all in, sell old pano roof, so probably affordable.

Good advice - not considered that...

I wouldn’t bother - we use ours occasionally but very rarely - can’t see there being a market for your old fixed one - it will be a pig to fit and get water tight and no wind noise - then there’s the electrics

I’d agree that if you really want one, you’d be better swapping cars.

I am [eventually] ordering an AB this year... and I will delete the opening roof despite the ‘value’ of it. Wife’s orders. We never use it on our current L320. The clear sight of sky with fixed on the L405 has more value for us.

Mine's open whenever possible, was a must have option for me and I think it's great. Thumbs Up

^ Thumbs Up

I wouldn’t be without one; give me a little buffeting over claustrophobia any day. My favourite is still using it, open wide, on a starlight night, especially in the winter Shocked

I’d be shocked if it were possible as the roof aperture is a different size.

As has been said, it’s an excuse to swap it out! Mr. Green :

Shocked you drive along looking at the stars ?

I thought the aperture was the same, but the fixed is a single pane with no interruptions, so looks better when closed ?

Think of it as “Classic” satnav Thumbs Up

The area of clear glass with the panoramic roof is greater than the aperture on the opening roof (if that makes sense Rolling Eyes )

Kind of - I thought the opening and fixed pano roofs were both the same size

AFAIK there’s never been a solid roof option with a sunroof, so surprised that there’s be 2 different aperture sizes - but could be completely wrong as i’ve never really looked either Embarassed

Was that your Sextant at the Chequered Flag cafe lost and found?

Laughing

Have to agree with all the “Yay to sunroofs”......we always try to get one and when we do it’s open as much as possible, otherwise what’s the heater for?

We were really surprised and annoyed by a lot of the LR range having just pano roofs and not opening......what’s with that? Rolling Eyes David

Please let me know if my comments upset you, I may wish to upset you again.

Same size hole for both opening & fixed pano roof... They come as a cassette and you drop one or the other in Thumbs Up

Done a couple now for customers who want them opening instead of fixed... All bought second hand from dismantlers Thumbs Up
