So, I have reviewed the maintenance history of the new (to me) 2011 RR AB that I will be picking up in a week. The most curious thing about the maintenance history compiled from actual records from Indie mechanic and Carfax, is that there have been a total of FIVE water pumps put on this vehicle not counting original over the course of 9 years and 122K miles!

Anyone... is there some unknown issue that plagues the 5.0 water pumps? Could it be a misaligned belt that is putting force on the bearing and wearing out prematurely?

They were all JLR. 2 while under LR care, the others under the independent LR shop. All repairs indicated the factory part. There is no sign of an issue, but there must be. At this point all I can do is hope that when the front end was apart to replace the timing chain guides that the reassembly solved the issue. Only time will tell. 2011 Range Rover Autobiography

Seems like the belt off line could be the cause then! It carries a lot of pressure on the front spindle. |
