Hi . Just fitting my side steps. Went to reconnect battery and now car won’t start or no accessorie position in ignition. Everything else works? Any ideas?

Not quite sure what you mean by no accessories in ignition, if you could clarify would
help.

But first, check the battery terminals are well seated, loosen, tap gently down to seat, then tighten. Had that on mine at battery replacement by dealer. Perhaps also try a battery reset. A search on here could help.

Basically, turn off the car by pushing the start/stop button. open the bonnet and wait until the car goes to sleep. Disconnect both the battery terminals, negative first. Wait a few minutes and touch and hold the positive and negative cables together for a bit, away from the battery. Reconnect and try again. Cheers

When I press my start stop button with foot off the brake nothing happens.

If i try and start car with foot on brake nothing happens.

It’s like the start stop switch is dead!?

Have you tried a battery reset, seems to be the first port of call people suggest to reset all the systems if something odd happens after working with the battery disconected? Cheers

I now have ignition but still nwont start and no radio now?

Did you fit deplorable sidesteps? And plug them in ?

If so, try unplugging them again.... .

+1 with Joe. If you've just done something and it goes t s up then undo and see if the problem undoes.

Also, do you know what the age and condition of your battery is and is it currently properly charged? These beasties are prone to probs when the battery is not charging, holding its charge, is on its way out, etc. Cheers

Wow what a nightmare that was. And man I feel like a idiot big time.

So it turns out that I managed to knock out the main plug from the fuse board however it looked like it was still plugged in.

Then once I fixed this stupid mistake I still couldn’t start the car and reason for that was even more silly. I wasn’t pressing the brake pedal hard enough because it had been pumped a few times already and had gone hard.

I was panicking and running out of light etc so felt horrible.

Steps all fitted now just going to go for a drive to make sure everything ok and charge the battery.
