Do you have a spare key? Have you tried that yet?

Have you checked the cable from the gear shift to the ignition switch is moving/working/free?

When you put the stick into P it pushes/or pulls a cable (much like a bicycle brake cable) thie other end goes to the key barrel . Basically, when you select P it allows the key to turn... When you select a gear the cable locks the key in the ignition. You then cannot remove the key until P is selected again.
If the cable is stuck or stiff it won’t let the key turn...

The immobiliser is a little black square magnetic block in the top of the key fob. This is read by a ring around your ignition switch, this also works the steering lock (i think... from memory) so..... If you buy a lock & key from fleabay then the magnet would need transferring, the door lock would need changing along with the glovebox lock... The key would need coding to your car of which I'm unsure if a second hand key could be?

The next thing i would try, if you have the time? & patience? Would be to remove the ignition lock and tap in upside down and see what falls out! The reason for JLR moving the key higher in 07MY was simply because dirt and especially sand would gather in the lock and jam it up!

Good luck Thumbs Up
