Getting to fuel tank sender

I'm trying to get to the fuel tank sender to have a look at the connectors, as the gauge is always over reading by about 1/4 tank. Also, when I fill the tank right up, the gauge will often drop back to zero until I brake or go around a corner and then it will go all the way to full. I'm hoping it's just the well known connector issue.

However, having tilted the seats forward, I'm struggling to get the two curved side trim panels out in order to be able to pull the carpet up and out of the way. I've managed to release the lower half of the nearside panel but have broken one of the top retaining clips. It looks as though it should slide down but it isn't. Can anyone offer some sage advice please.

Sorry, meant to say it's an 09 car.

Thanks
Andy

No intention of removing my fuel pump any time soon or indeed ever, but that’s fascinating to watch! Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Probably too late now but don't bother removing the seat locating bars - just cut the carpet. There's a good thread about it here in case you haven't seen it: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic46574-15.html 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

All sorted!

MikeO, you're right is was too late, but to be honest a couple of minutes removing the bars is no hardship.

My fuel gauge is now telling me I'm almost running on fumes and the light is on which is what I'd expect with 360 odd miles on the trip.

Great video and really helpful, thanks wayneg.

Others have had trouble re-aligning them hence the reason for leaving them in situ and cutting the carpet. Sounds like you didn't have any trouble though. Thumbs Up 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate
