How long for suspension to rise back to normal?

My EAS seems sluggish. When driving off from access mode, the light flashes as it should. I timed it the other night and it took 1 min 44sec to go back to the normal setting whilst driving along. I've read somewhere it should be back to normal ride height within 50 yards, but I managed to drive the end of the street (nearly 1/2 mile) before it was back to normal. It takes 8 seconds to lower. It all seems to work fine apart from that - motorway setting, off road etc. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Shouldn't be that long. Yours does sound very sluggish. Do you get the message on the dash display saying its raising slowly? If I sit there and raise and lower the suspension a couple of times I get that message, presumably because I've used all the air in the reservoir and it's not had enough time to replenish.

Mine starts going up after 50 yds, and then takes a few seconds only to get to normal (I'll time it next time I'm out, but I don't think it's more than 6 -7 secs), It's certainly raised to full height after about 75-100 yds.

There should be enough air in the reservoir tank to do at least 1 raise from access to standard, but in practice I have found it takes an age to get from standard to extended. I think part of this may be wait comands - the suspension should adjust under heavy braking/accellerating/cornering so sometimes I think this may be whi its not going anywhere.

I'd quite like to fit a second air tank to make faster moves, maybe with a secondary (much cheaper) air pump from a classic/P38 that just works off a pressure switch to supliment the original pump.

It does sound like its sluggish and there may be a simple issue. Odd that the EAS is derived from the original system trialled on the Classic and then on the P38, so why it still has problems who knows..

Sorry to be pedantic but 'extended' mode is not the same as the Off Road height. Extended CANNOT be manually selected but is an extension above Off road height that occurs when the vehicle senses it has grounded. When this occurs the driver can then also select to go evern higer by using the 'up' selector on the EAS control knob.

Occasionally mine has gone into extended mode and it's quite astounding how high it goes, next time it happens I'm going to go for the ultra extended height and take a picture.

Here's a couple of places to find extra help:

Sorry, I was using layman’s terms, because when you say off road mode people get confused! When I was reading through the description and operation section in the workshop manual I actually found no mention of the “Extended Mode” that was implemented in the Classic and P38 System.

To say that the L322 EAS operation is in any way based on the Classic/P38 system is stretching it… The system was completely re engineered from the beginning (which is why although lessons were learnt from the earlier systems, a whole host of new problems were introduced). The EAS ECU on the L322 is far superior, with a greater range of Plausibility Scenarios and a better ability to work around system failures using substitute values and complex mathematics to work things out.

Anyway, back to Extended Mode – I think it was ditched because of the Crosslink Valves, you couldn’t have both systems.

If you can find info on Extended Mode then I would be very happy, I was shocked that the L322 doesn’t have it.

I read in my handbook that the "super" extended mode could be activated by keeping your foot on the brake and moving the button again over to the high postion, but no matter how many times I have tried, I still can't seem to get the sequence right...

mines about 5 secs low to normal mode - suprised me how quick she is

I tried mucking about with the modes one day , and just kept the knob in the raise position for a good few seconds after and the " Extended Mode " kicked in and lifted it even higher ............ ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

From Access, from Standard or Off Road?

What correction factors shall we use for Altitude and Temperature?

a real enthusiast would do a lap time from access to standard, to extended to super extended, average it all out over 3 and correct to 4 decimal places, post the results and also have a poll to see who's was the fasted...

and then post a link to it all on www.IamaLRenthusiast.com Shocked Laughing
