Dash lights dimmer

I would like to dim my 55 plate Denso touch screen, I find it very distractingly bright at night. So much I often turn it off.
Of course I have turned down the brightness on the screen control, and it is also connected to the dash dim knob.

Its about the right brightness when the dash is turned to its lowest, however that then dims all the other lights, speedo etc.

It is obviously a variable resistor, but can't find the circuit on the L322 wiring diagram.
I was hoping that I could either fit another (or a resistor) in line just before the Denso screen.

Can anybody cast their eye over the wiring diagram and spot it, or any ideas of which pin-out the dimmer circuit is,
Or other ideas gratefully received.

Many thanks

I expect the dimmer to be generating a PWM signal varying the ON time rather than being a variable resistor.

My MY12's dimmer is part of the lighting switch and shows there in the wiring schematic.

Thanks, but I suspect a 2012 is probably significantly different to a 2005 year.

Can anybody find the dimmer circuit diagram for a 2005/6? or any other dimmer ideas?

Best wishes

i turn mine off at night if on a long journey...

there isnt a way of dimming the screen unfortunately but if you do need it on then what about a piece of coloured perspex/plastic or any other 'diffused' see through material that you can place over the screen... ... - .- -.

Stan has a very good idea. If you're stuck for a form of cover, search "theatre lighting gels".

Lots about and many different shades and don't appear to expensive.

Cheers

If your dimmer control is in the light switch then my guess is that it will not have changed. The dimmer fitted to 1999 D2s were pwm controlled and IIRC D1's were too.

A tinted ipad screen protector would probably be an answer if such a thing existed??

I wonder if window tint film would work. Has anybody got any they could try to see if you can 'finger' through it Laughing

Best wishes

Just a point, would the touch screen still operate ok with the additional cover?.
I agree with the brightness & tend to use the voice control to turn it off. Thumbs Up
