4.4 TDV8 difference 4.4 SDV8

Just curious, what's the difference between a 4.4 TDV8 and a 4.4 SDV8 ?

Emissions-wise the TD is Euro 5 and the SD is Euro 6
Does that mean it has AdBlue and tweaks but it's the same engine?

What does the 'S' stand for?
. Cheers, Greg

The SDV8 will have AdBlue from Sept 15 onwards (65) (Euro 6 cars), not before. To make room for the AdBlue tank the diesel tank is smaller on these later SDV8s (I think 85 or so litres rather than 100 on the pre-AdBlue). The SDV8 has higher power output than the TDV8. Early SDV8s may not have the turbo drain mod, not sure when that became standard from the factory. Otherwise I think the engines are pretty much the same.

The S is, I think just marketing, to differentiate from the less S [porty] TDV6. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thats interesting about the diesel tank size, the handbook was not updated to state the correct capacity, I wondered why it was saying 5 miles to empty yet I could only get 78 liters in. letters not necessarily in the right order

Yes it is somewhat annoying - I could get around 500/540 to a tank full - now it’s 400/450 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

The adblue tank filler is on the left hand side of the inner front wing under the bonnet and holds 18ltrs, hard to see how that would affect the capacity of the diesel tank. I am sure I read it was 100 ltrs for the v8 and 80 ltrs for the v6???

Could it be that they want/need to maintain the same "wet weight"? Only Range Rovers since 1988
