Looking for a little advice here.

V8 3.6 2007. VSE

Flat battery.

Had to jump from the breakdown trucks dedicated 12v output direct to battery - there was no jump terminal to be found under the bonnet, or in the areas that the manual said there would be a jump terminal. The breakdown man assured me it would be ok. I protested, but needed to get the vehicle started, I was in Duseldorf and home is Leicestershire, I was due to leave to catch my ferry back to the UK.

Eventually got it started. Everything else seems ok, but cruise control is not working, no cruise control lights on the dash come on and there is no response from the buttons on the steering wheel.

Had a look at the manual and it lists fuse 9 (glove box) as being related to cruise, but also that fuse is linked to several other systems and they are all working ok.

Now back at home, I have seen about the DSC reset process: start engine turn wheel from full LH lock to full RH lock. Tried that and just been for a short drive. No change.


Questions:
1) I have driven several hundred miles since getting the car started again and have only just tried the DSC reset . In order for the DSC reset to work, should this be performed immediately after a battery reconnection, or can it be done at anytime? I watched a youtube video on a guy doing this and his car "beeped" an acknowledgement of the process in his film. My didnt make any beeps.

2) Fuse 9 was the one that the manual referred to, this is also for brakes, and other things. Is my manual misleading me, if those other systems are working, there seems little chance of it being a blown fuse 9. (I will check when the rain stops and I recover from the 4000km road trip).

3) I will also check Fuse 31 and 53, these seem linked to the throttle sensor and the ignitiion for cruise control system. Are there any other fuses I should check?

4) Fault codes - would checking and clearing these have any impact on re- initiating the CC system? I don't have the ability to do this, but I could get someone to do this.

5) What else can I look at doing ?

Have you got an IIDTool Mark?

I was doing a CCF upload/edit with the IIDTool and lost the cruise control due to low battery but it came back when I did a restore to default on the CCF. Not sure if that's relevant for your 2007 though.

What is a CCF and can I restore this without the IID tool?

Hi Mark

CCF is a file that resides in the cars ECU and holds default settings. Which the IIDTool can edit.

Why don't you try a battery reset, I think there is a wiki.

Low batteries can set off all kinds of odd things but I'm sure you can get your cruise back.

Some clever person here will no doubt know what else to suggest.

2011 Vogue SE 4.4 with lots of toys in Stornaway

I had all error codes printed out, and cleared at the Land Rover body shop that did some work for me recently and the CC is back on. So I assume there was something in the history that was preventing it from being activated. CC is fine now.

However, I now have a 3amp battery drain to chase - I had a flat battery twice in a week now when not using the car for >48 hours.
It looks like something is keeping the BCM awake, but I haven't been able to monitor it any longer than 5-10 mins at the moment. I really need to be able to check it after about 50 minutes to see if the BCM is going to sleep.
