Just sent our Lagunas docs off this morning for a Transfer to the Freelander. £80 , I'll post back with the timeleines as it progresses. The V5 will take a while but they do send a letter authorising the production of the plates for the car prior to the V5 getting processed. Hope they don't cock it up. Never had any major issues, just the odd delay using dealers.. much simpler to retain if you go the dealers route. I've been swapping plates for 22 years... slows down the rate at which I swap cars mind.. which isn't a bad thing.. it may cost £80 or £130 for retention but I'd have lost way more on depreciation on cars I "just must have it now" kind of thing if you see what I mean.

The only problem is, you sometimes get a bit too enthusiastic and pick up plates that are dateless. I have two for Defenders, TOP 90 and TAZ 90 that I used to have on challenge trucks and a 110 plate too. 110 and then three letters. All dateless and all on retention.

Park the 110 one on my 110 until you find one.. save paying the retention every year |

Sent off transfer forms last Monday to transfer my dads personal reg onto my new FFRR. It's his initials followed by 2 numbers and letter so dateless and should look nice. The best thing about it is his initials are the same as my 2 year old son. My dad said he was going to give it to him when he gets his 1st car anyway. I'll let you know when we hear back to give an idea of waiting time. FFRR TD6 HSE

Hair Dryer to heat it up (not too close) and then it should pull off without damage - may need a thin blunt tool to get under the edge. |
