sorry yes the engine fan, i have just started it up from cold and it started running straight away; im assuming that it will normally cut in from time to time and not constant ??, as you can here it when it cuts in, and it didnt cut in as much before,

diesel Dave has described exactly what mine does of recent weeks, fan comes on when cold start, from the previous journey and very shortly shuts off, glad this thread is here as I was thinking it may of been an issue.....but you know these old girls , they don't often go wrong.....!!!...!!! Lol |

I'm not sure about the TD6 but the fan on the Petrol variant (certainly the AJv8) is controlled thermally and also with an electronic lock up clutch.

No need to drain down. You have to "release" the shroud in place in order to get enough room to get the spanners in place. It is a bit of a fiddle, but once you break the lock of the nut on the pulley, the fan should just spin off, then you can pull it up and out, leaving the shroud in place.
