RQN500012 Air Reservior

Your thoughts please folks.
My reservoir is pretty corroded & I'm looking to replace it, As it will eventually leak.
Now this is where the problem starts. This item is now obsolete & I'm struggling to find one.

Has anyone replaced one lately & if so where did you obtain it from, can another similar unit be used?

Note;- 2006 spec 4.4 petrol.

Thanks in advance.

looking at microcat it comes up with 2 different part numbers depending on VIN for the 2002-10 FFRR, RQN500020 and 500040 both of which are currently available.

www.LRparts.RU have a look and see what range your vin falls in on microcat. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for the reply.
The RQN500020 reservoir is the early type, which also houses the valve block RQN500040.
My valve block is under the OSF wing.

The part No is correct as I've taken the id tag of the reservoir.

I may have to use RQN500080, as this appears to the closest, although the front mounting bracket is the same as the rear .

Ah got you, looking closer at the vins, from 6A000001 up to 6A228699 uses the part you have specified, this then changed to RQN500013 for vins from 6A228700 to 8A274979.

That part is obsolete though and does supersede to RQN500080 and is the part for vins from 8A274980 to 9A999999

so it would seem that you may be correct in assuming 500080 is good.

Check with dan at duckworthparts, if you send him your VIN he can tell you which is the current replacement part. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Apparently LR don't list a replacement part.
Although I believe that the 500080 will probably do, I'm now thinking that the 500010 may suffice, as very similar in shape & connections.
I may have to change the ends, as mine only has one inlet /outlet & no pressure sensor.
I'm pretty sure that all the connections would be the same, as usually the OEM don't often change threads etc.

But you never know Whistle

As these are high pressure units you could assume that they have a pretty thick wall, I don't think many have reported leaks in the actual reservoirs.

If you are worried about its condition, it may pay to have it removed, and pressure tested then cleaned and powder coated, should it actually be in serviceable condition under the corrosion. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

That was my initial thought, however it is getting pretty crusty & If I take out I prefer to replace it.
It's probably me being over cautious but it's sods law it will go when I need it most.
Thanks for your input though.

See thread.

Bought from Dan at Duckworth, gave it a rub down with scotch pad and a coat of stone chip before installing.

The biggest pain was having to remove and replace the side step, otherwise straightforward.

Thanks for update. I'll drop Dan a note. Luckily I still have a new set of steps sat in the box.
