The kids argue about what they want to watch too. Easier all round to give them each their own tablet.

To be fair, my LO is only 17 months so we have only just started considering a tablet as useful. He got a cheap from for Xmas from my mum and to be fair he absolutely loves it but has no idea how it works as yet (won't be long!) I like the idea of RSE as its built in, doesn't have to be charged or messed with etc. Much like I will always prefer a built in satnav, even an older one as its part of the car - I used to have an astravan with built in CD70 Nav, was brilliant took me all over the country for 150,000 miles. I gave it to a colleague (we still have it, @220k now!) when I got a newer one, without navigation sadly, and was appalled to see him just stick the suction cup of the TomTom onto the navigation screen in the van...!

Amazed to hear that older kids were not impressed with a brand new L405's RSE! I would have been astonished with anything like that when I was younger. Dad always had 7 series BMW's which were never really offered with much in the way of RSE, especially SWB ones. (not to say it wasnt possible just not popular!) and the only landrover we ever had that I can remember was a V8 Discovery (wide head lamps) on a 96 N in Rioja Red, what a beast but totally impractical for my mother going to the shops at 14mpg!

The search continues, I have found a stunning early example. Although I would probably prefer an MY07 this one is attractively priced and a wonderful looking machine, miles are a bit high but the money reflects that. Also attractive from a VED point of view. Although I'm not shy of spending £515 a year if I have to, I'd rather keep £230 in my pocket than pay for more pot holes to be ignored.

I think I have decided that the light guards are not for me and I'm not up to having to do £500 worth of bodywork just to remove them! 2005 E60 M5

So my stunning one, listed at having 99k miles in the advert has actually done 145k and has an engine from another vehicle in it... The search continues. 2005 E60 M5

I have RSE in mine and my daughter likes watching TV and DVD's on it. Works great when we go to Czech Republic by car as she is content.

Not a deal breaker though as there are other options for having entertainment in the back as has already been discussed.

I do like the idea of HDMI input and or the hard drive with things stored on it that is accessible via wifi though. Clever.

If you do find one with those light guards and don't want them, let me know as I do want some.

Thanks and good luck Alex

Yes, from what I hear, those that like the RSE are those with very young kids. Don't worry, another year or two and he'll be defragmenting and repartitioning your hard drives. And know how to work his own tablet.

I also have an Autobiography which has RSE, wanted it for the youngster, which he loves on long journeys, but as said there are now better options, might look at a HDMI port. Regards

My kids only use it on long journeys but my thoughts are if your buying secondhand its better to have as many options fitted as possible. I went out of my way to get the venture cam working so for me , toys toys toys. 2015 4.4 AB

My little one likes to watch stuff and its good for once hes fallen asleep to switch it off.
We had the IPad on a Headrest but was awkward to switch the volume off etc. We have now got some DVD's for him to watch and as above switch them off when we want.
He also like listening to music so its good to just be able to flick between DVD and CD/MP3.

Lack of RSE we wouldve made do but would be gutted. I am gutted its not easy to have a proper Aux or hdmi etc connection but oh well.

We have a 4.2 S/C AB L322.

I agree you either want it or not, would not be a deal breaker for the right car, have the RSE in mine and the kids love it but I have modified it to take an iPad video in as was fed up for changing the discs all the time.

there is a crossover point,

1 young kid - RSE works fine
2 young kid - RSE works fine if they are close in age and want to watch the same thing
2 young kids who are a few years apart - doesn't work unless the older one doesn't mind peppa pig
1 Kids over 5 - RSE works OK but only on journeys under 6 films long
2 Kids over 5 - RSE is a waste of time - just leads to arguments on what to watch and who gets to choose.

Neat as it is, I still recon id rather not have it....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Really interesting viewpoints guys, appreciate the time taken for the feedback.

I dropped in to look at a Leggy 06 plate today with RSE and to be fair I don't think it would be one I would buy, but boy was I impressed with it. Still not managed to drive one yet as it was blocked in and I felt bad wasting the sellers time to much.

However I couldn't get over what a premium product it feels over the P38, its another world. (Apart from the key!)

It gave me a chance to have a look at the major controls of it and it felt good. As the dash and electronics are very BMW E39 I expected it to feel like that but I didn't actually notice it.

It certainly bolstered my interest in the pre face lift models. Its a bit of a shame the center console feels a touch cheap and sees to wear badly but I could live with it I think. 2005 E60 M5

Burr wood in a black/Ivory RR is not ideal for resale but looks OK in the pictures. Thumbs Up
