My lower tail gate seems to stick intermittently

2003 L322 lower tailgate sticks intermittently, I sometimes cannot open it by pressing the button on the bottom tail gate, after a few goes it'll open. I can hear the actuator working. Is this a common problem with this model, whats the remedy?
thanks

i would start with lubricating the locks on each side. Regards

HI
Could also take the inside panel out - lots of joints inside that can be lubed.

and…. not sure if you know,
but there are a couple of emergency 'levers' that can be pushed down to release manually.

Not a great photo but you can see the lever on the top. When the tailgate is shut there is just enough room to get a finger down there and press the lever (need to both sides) - Might help if it sticks again

Cheers

Simon

oops also meant to say check the lock pins- (what ever they are called lol) (the things that stick out from the body) as if they may be out of alignment.

Sprayed some WD40 on the locks and all is good, thanks for the advice on the emergency levers, found them.
