Just have a look through RAVE, a bit late as i've already but one side back together but just wondered if there was anything I missed!

It says to mark one of the bolts in relation to the turret before taking it out, just wondering what the reason for this way? It only fits in one way as theres the three bolts and a little plastic bit that sticks up too?

I never marked mine and just put the new one is, so have I done something wrong?  

There is a small amount of suspension adjustment in the strut top mountings, the mark is if you are reusing the strut, to get it back how it was, always worth getting the geometry adjusted after strut replacement to ensure everything is OK, the amount of adjustment at the top of the strut is so small it's negligible and will probably be within specifications no matter where it is...

So don't worry about it...  Pete

Thats good, makes me feel slightly better about life. If I remember correctly I did position the nuts in the same position as before as you could see on the turret where they previously were!

Next question, are you actually meant to torque all these bits up with the vehicle on the ground? Can't even get my torque wrench near most of the nuts and bolts with the wheel on, massive 22inch things!!

Finally... It shows on Microcat that I need a washer for the drop link, they didn't come with the drop link so I need to purchase these separately? 

The washer is a spacer, not a washer... and I'd be inclined to reuse the old one  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

You only have to torque up bolts on bushes that will be in a different position relative to their mounting when the car is on it's wheels, so no none of the strut bolts need doing on the ground....

As miggit says use the old one if you have it, they are hardened washers used as spacers, ensure you get them the right side of the drop link...  Pete

^^ How annoying is that? The world came up with ISO standards for thread sizes and head sizes.. then the bloody Japanese started fitting the next size down head to the thread... like a 14mm headed M10 and then Mercedes and BMW decided to have a go and came up with 16 and 18 mm bolt heads and the 7mm thread

That's a true story there!

I once was quoted £300 just to fit a radiator in my old Jaguar X Type, so decided to pay £130 for a Halfords Advanced socket set that literally has everything in and attempt it myself, went well, now own a socket set and saved myself £200 in the process. Never needed another tool except a 22mm spanner which luckily I found at work!

Until now, £12 delivered next day from Halfords won't hurt I guess, the drop link on the side I've changed is in half where I have up undoing it and took an angle grinder to the middle so I could get the strut out!

Also thinking of a 450mm breaker bar now, fed up of risking my ratchet with a 3ft scaffold bar  

Try Sunday markets for things like breaker bars and prybars and anything else that is just a big lump of metal, as long as the tool doesn't have to do much it's not worth buying a branded one for home DIY use...  Pete

Good plan, except I work 7 days a week!

Picked up a 18mm spanner from Halfords whilst working earlier, £6.99 to me offset against tax as it's for work  

I got one of these the other year....

...... just can't jack the car high enough to use it

I actually got it for all the really stubborn bolts, and then having got it have not had any bolts that the 24" bar wont shift It serves as a good deterrent to rusty nuts  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Miggit, now that's a plan!

In all honestly when doing the driver side, it was easy... the bolt was so rusted in I managed to undo the nut all the way and the bolt didn't even budge, result on my behalf  

I used an HGV windy gun and snapped the bolts clean off...  Pete
