Hi All,

As ou are probably aware some time ago I did the 2010 facelift on my 4.4 V8 '02.

I did the whole K&N filter and it felt a massive botch if I'm honest so I have been looking for a way to somehow use the air inlet from the wing, a similar filter to factory and to have it all fit...

The answer I have found is the universal BMC CDA 85-150...

A couple of snags/quesitions... the outlet to the MAF is 85mm - the man is 90mm - I used some silicone hose to join but is this restriction likely to cause me any headache?

The sock hosing WILL need to be cut - I am yet to do this I have just connected it to see how it all sounds/works.

I think I will trim about an inch and a half off the engine side of the MAF pipe so it will sit further back. I will then modify the wing pipe o fit that I still have... what do you reckon - here are some pics...

That's interesting, I've got some later lights for mine and need to do similar to make the snorkel effective, I have that very airbox in my eBay watch list thinking it may fit...

I wouldn't think the 5mm will make any difference atall.. What pipe are you using from the other end of the airbox to the original pipe in the wing..?? Pete

Do you mean the end that would usually go into the wing? I was planning on trimming and using the stock one

I feel that after 7 years I can now own up to having this CDA filter in my car (fitted by the previous owner).
When it came to replacing the MAF I discovered that they had cut the end off (the side with the plastic 'grid') to make it fit, resulting in me having to remove the sensor from the new housing to put it in the old housing.
The previous owner then used some 100mm (possibly 75mm?) flexible stainless ducting to provide air rather than the original system.
I often think about going back to 'standard' but then I put my foot down, hear the growl and change my mind again.
Oh and my car hasn't had a facelift.

Oh, right, personally I don't like induction roar.... Oh well..... Pete

It's not the same as a cone roar very different kind of sound also chris read do you have the hose going from the wing to the inlet of the filter without that it's very loud

No, for some reason they didn't connect it to the wing inlet, which I never realised until your post.

So haylands I can tell you for certain after having two of these on my m5 with the inlet on and off - the inlet off is very loud - inlet on it is quite quiet a notch above stock
