Yesterday got the car professionally cleaned inside and out and new Pirelli's at the back in advance of a 3,000 mile pan-Europe trip on Monday. Didn't need to use the car today, but it looked so good I found an excuse to take it out for a spin. Parked up outside a post office got what I needed and was turning left heading out of the car park when I heard a gut wrenching crunch noise to my left |

Went in for front tyres but the guy said they were ok, just a bit worn on the edges (Conti's) the rears however were bald on the inside of the tyre. Had the wheels aligned and 2 were off kilter then bought Pirelli's for the rear. Did ask them if I should put them on the front considering the route I'm taking but he said their policy is to make sure the rears are better in case of loss of traction going round a corner in wet. He did say it was up to me but I thought I'd take his advice.

Those are the prices I was thinking of. Your bumper price was phenomenal I had someone career into me rear at some lights and both Land Rover and the Indy I use wanted £150 just to remove the bumper to see what damage had been done. Current:

Are your doors damaged, or the plastic under panels damaged.

Yes, I've also heard the tyre experts say that new tyres should go on the rear. It seems counter-intuitive to me, but that's the prevailing wisdom.

The prevailing wisdom I think is based on the idea that better rear grip help prevent the rear end stepping out and tail spinning, which is harder to catch and control compared to understeer. V8 or else ... |

Front tyres still have about 5mm of tread, as their continentals the outside edge has worn more than the rest of the tyre, the back ones were bald on the inside so they had to be replaced, bloody annoying as the middle again had 5mm of life. Now had wheel alignment done.
