Re condioned box issue !

Hi guys New to the Forum And was just wondering if you could shed some light on a gearbox issue i have just Had ?
I had a recon box 350 miles ago fitted on my Range Rover 3.0td6 03 reg 118.000 miles with the GM box Fitted as it was not holding Pressure and took a while to engage in drive on start up ! So in it went for 10 days in total came out with recon box brand new torque converter .
So was on a run for a weekend away on 35 miles away drove spot on until i got to within a mile from my destination and all of a sudden at a junction it felt like the gears had double up on themselves when i braked and come to a stand still ? The engine was hunting and felt like it wanted to shoot off in 2nd or 3rd as 1st was not noticed ? When i pulled over i took out of gear and turned the vehicle of and then re-started it put into reverse and nothing at all ! I then put back into drive and it felt like it jumped into 2nd or maybe 3rd definitely not 1st.
I drove forward as i could not turn around and all the gears felt like they was all over the place(sloppy) So headed home ! and it got me all the way back and cruised at 70mph with no issues.
To me it feels like the gears have seem to have all moved out of sync .
The price of the Re-con box was £1800 inc vat
Anyone have any ideas to what it could be ? Or has anyone come across this after having a new Recon box Fitted ? Thanks in Advance.

I'd just take it back to the place that did the work & let them figure it out.

What he said, this should happen if they had done their job right. .

Take it back mate.
There should be no issues at all, with a good recon box.
had mine done nearly 8 months now, no problems.
Thumbs Up

Sound like either the box recon wasn't done properly, or your garage that fitted it screwed up.

My TD6 had its box replaced at 179k with a recon unit from Midland Automatic Transmissions www.automaticgearbox.co.uk and fitted by my local LR independent specialist. It came with a 12k/12mth warranty.

11k and 6 months on it's had no problems at all - I regularly tow my offroader with an all up trailer weight around 2.5 tons so it's not like it gets treated gently.

Go back to the fitter and tell them to fix it.

Good luck
