I had a TDV8 inspected by a dealer prior to purchase and a couple of issues were flagged, one being an oil leak from the steering rack. Is this a known problem? Is it something that means I should walk away? Dealer quotes £3k to fix.

The other issue is that the car has the external cameras (2010 MY) and the near side ones don't work.

Neither seem like major issues to me, but the real question is is the purchase price right to give you some money to fix them? In my opinion it would be unusual to find a five year old one of these without some sort of problem.

When I bought my TDV8 last year, had a new rack done under warranty. It had obviously been leaking for some time & the selling garage topped up the fluid & hoped it would be ok until it became my problem. Whilst being fixed, I asked local indy if it was common, they had another 4 being done when I was there...

Whatever you do, it needs replacing, I found that eurocarparts can supply a gen ZF rack for way under main dealer prices.

My rack is weeping at the moment. It's been like that for a year. It's not leaking enough to drop fluid. ______________________________
