Why do you need to change the timing chain - they are pretty much bullet proof? |

There was a problem with the old 4.2 plastic tensioners, but it was rectified with aluminium ones. I know - I'e stripped one. But I'm sure its well sorted and I don't know of a problem with the 5.0?

Stupid question , but if a 5.0 litre 2011 model is bought and is out of warranty will LR still fix this if the fault occurs or is it only warranty vehicles it applies to |

Its not a recall, so customer would pay unless under warranty i would have thought.

I vaguely remember reading on here that RRUK has had this issue within 5.0 and had the timing chains done on his at the dealer under warranty.

My 2011 SC rattled liked a diesel when I purchased it in Aug 2014. The dealer did the chain tensioner update kit then replaced the SC snout and.....hey! it still rattles just like a diesel!! Fine when on the road but driving around town, I just slap a diesel emblem over the SC emblem. |
