So sorry to hear this Bud. I know exactly how you feel. I lost my Dad in 13, my Mum in 14 and then last august I lost my Border Collie pal of 14 years 'Bluey'. Like you say, the vet can say what they want but only you truly know your own dog.

same happened to me 3 years ago. Everything sorted it's self out now except the pain of the loss of my dog Toby. but that's getting easier too. Why the dog hit me the most I don't know. |

Cat person here and its just as bad . No stopping the tears when that dreadful day comes. Been dried eyed at the death of a relative yet cried buckets when we lost our last cat. |

Firstly hope your wife is ok, Sorry to hear about your Dane, as others have said its so sad when the inevitable happens. We are on our second Dane, we had a staffie between the two, so feel your pain my friend. 2004 vogue

Well after much (not really) discussion I have taken the plunge and have this beauty below, cant get her to sit still long enough for a proper picture. All black Great Dane, 9 weeks old and already taller than the lab, she is a bloody handful

Very sad indeed, I've just got a new puppy and a 8 yo jack Russell and it's horrible to think that one day they will no longer be around. |
