Not strictly on topic but…..

As a complete novice trying to buy his first RR, I am finding it more difficult than expected to find the right vehicle. I called a Stratstone dealer near Scarborough who has a 5.0SC AB and was disappointed to find that they won't consider moving a car to another branch in their dealer network unless it has sat for at least twenty days.

One of the (many) reasons I am moving away from Mercedes-Benz is the lack of a national network; am I behind the times and this is the norm nowadays?

The salesman was flummoxed when I turned down his offer to hold the car until I could get up there to view it…the reasons for buying locally went right over his head, including 'building a relationship' with the dealership.

The fact that it was all about the sale is a concern to me as it smacks of MBs attitude to dealer behaviour. Or am I being harsh?

I don't think you are being harsh but to add a little fuel to the flames, I bought mine from a big chain but 200 miles from where we live as they too were dismissive of the idea of sending it to my local dealer (even with a deposit) but the truth is that you are right to be cautious because my local dealer hasn't fell over backwards for me, largely because I bought it from a different part of the country, albeit the same group. Could it be trading rules that they hike it up, for a month, or is it 56 days, only for the new year sale, to see it an apparent bargain. Razz

What's wrong with the tractors!

We love ours. Wouldn't go back to the SC now. Much more sophisticated, look!

you look rather dashing in that hat Ryan.. Laughing

there were financial reasons that persuaded me otherwise as well..
first dealer offered me £18k against mine , then the second dealer £15k and the third £12500 ,all within 6 weeks so my enthusiasm decreased considerably..

i still like the 2010 look and also the digital dash, larger wing mirrors etc so maybe next year or maybe if LR have a january sale.. ... - .- -.

There is an obvious reason for this that has not been mentioned yet........

If people travel long distances they are more likely to "do a deal” rather than waste there time! If the dealer moves a car to your local agent and you don’t buy it! Who foots the transport bill!

Simple really... Whistle
