When I was looking for one for a mate I found two that had had value services, there was no indication in the book it was only when I rang the dealers that it became apparent, I do have to say the dealers were very good at giving out the info... Your right, no chassis to take a body off!!!! I think the dealer is a bit confused, no need to take anything large off to replace all the brake pipes...

It's been asked a few times before about Polly Bushing on an L 322 and anyone who has done it will say the same thing , don't do it ! ruines the compliant ride and they won't last . The bushes on the L322 are excellent and can't be beaten I think it must have been one of the things BMW got spot on when they spent the billion dollars developing the car and nothing like the problems they have with the Disco and Spert . 2008 MY Supercharged

They are supposed to, write something like "Value Service", "Not to manufacturer specifications", "To joe bloggs specifications" (joe bloggs being the name of the dealer). Or they can stamp it with a non-Landrover stamp. So it might say "Joe Bloggs Landrover Specialist" without the actual LR logo, or the word "Approved" on it. That's how it works with most marques main dealers, but most of them also don't bother writing anything different in the book or using the generic stamp, but even if they do you can see how they can use a very slightly different stamp to the 'genuine' one or put wording on it that implies it was a LandRover service without actually specifying it. So they might use a stamp with "Joe Bloggs - Land Rover main dealer" because they are an LR main dealer, but it doesn't have the LR logo, or it has their own logo only. Anyone looking at it will just assume because they're a main dealer it was done to LR spec. You often see it in various marques service books, you'll have lets say Joe Bloggs Ford stamps up until year 3 or when ever the warranty runs out, then you see "Joe Bloggs Ford Main Dealer" after that. I've had a lot of experience of them on minis, the same principles apply to any car. Poly bushes are better than rubber in terms of longevity for bushes in locations that tend to perish before they wear out, but they're worse than rubber for just about everything else. They don't isolate noise so well as rubber, they don't deal with heat so well, they're always much harder and less springy so in suspension arms they make the ride harsher and transmit road noise through the body. Poly engine mounting are atrocious, may as well just solid mount the thing. There is a reason virtually all manufacturers use (more expensive) rubber bushes and not cheap to produce Poly ones. |
