I recently swapped my 56 reg TD6 for an 11 Reg TDV8 4.4. Now I liked the TD6 very much, and had the engine remapped for a bit more power. The TDV8 was a revelation though, very much more lively and oodles of power. It is noticeably quieter too. The engine note on the TD6 was ever present and became decidedly raucous when pressed. The TDV8 sounds and feels effortless. It is doing just 1400 rpm at 70 mph, and engine noise is barely noticeable.

Thanks very much for your reply Scuddriver, about your change into the 4.4. I really like the 4.4, but like you say, they are not cheap and if I'm spending all that money, I am hoping I will be able to enjoy the ride when cornering quickly, and not have that boat like lean I used to get in my td6 so much.

I currently drive a 4.4TDV8 and have owned a TD6 & 3.6TDV8 previously... My current car certainly handles much better than the previous models! That said, you cannot cheat physics! Its a heavy old beast!
