Deplorable steps grinding

Hi all

My passenger side deployable step is very noisy when it moves in or out, like a grinding noise. I cleaned up all the hinges and re-greased them but it made no difference.

Is it likely to be the motor itself making the noise? Looks like genuine motors are about £150. I'm just wondering if anyone has experience of fitting one, was it an easy job?

Looks like a few bolts holding it in, but I'm not sure how you get the motor spindle out of the bracket, presumably with a bit of force and pulling!!

Any advice appreciated, cheers Thumbs Up

I'll probably just get the local specialist to change the motor then if it's a tricky job, to be fair I can live with it for now, it's just slightly annoying!

And yes I didn't notice the title!! Thanks to my iPhone predictive text for that one Laughing maybe a good description though!

mine started out like that and then began to remain out for a few seconds longer. then one day it caught me out by sticking out when I was going over a kerb just after start up. ripped the whole step off.
follow Craig's advice and unplug it so you don't have a £150 job turn into £2k
