Does anyone have any knowledge or information on the upkeep of an outdoor swimming pool are they costly to maintain , hard , easy to look after .This will be be on a property on the Costa Del Sol area .

Mostly if they are expensive to maintain , how often do they need cleaned , guessing it will have to be done by a company that specialises in pool cleaning and what do they charge as I won't be over in it much more the wife , daughters and such . Are they worth the bother .

Where we are just now is a communal pool in this complex but are maybe looking to buy a Villa quite like your own Graham in Camposol up Murcia way . Then again depends on whether we can get our place in Marbella sold tho  ====================================

Well, I pay an annual fee to a local 'pool guy' which covers attendance to do the cleaning, plus the chemicals etc. he uses. The fee is EUR900 a year, which I pay quarterly. Mine gets cleaned two or three times a week in the summer and once a week September to March. Other costs: electricity for the pumps (about 50-80 Euro a month); and water (evaporation, backwash etc) maybe another 50 a month. I've also had about 400 Euro in repairs to pump in 10 years. If yours is heated for winter use, I'd suggest you look at an evacuated tube solar heater which will pay for itself in a few years in gas or elec savings.

If you do the tube heating maybe worth sticking some panels up for the pumps as well possibly and a small battery bank? Bigger up front cost but something that will again save in the long run...

Or just buy somewhere on the beach and enjoy a free pool with no upkeep  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Where we are just now we are only 5 minutes from the beach , it was mostly just to find out costings if we went to a Villa with its own pool  ====================================

Yes, you can i believe get lower volted pumps or use a transformer if needed but solar power is a good idea to have on the roofs in a sunnier climate anyway ideally with a small water sprayer on them  FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Salt water pools are much nicer to swim in than chlorine and the chlorinator for units these day draw much less power . You need to run your pump and chlorinator for about 4 hours each day in winter and 8 in summer so seeing as it's a second home have your pump and filter somewhere nice and safe just in case something goes really wrong in your absence and anyway the further the quieter . I look after my own pool so i have all the chemicals but you will use a service so it's something less to worry about . Solar heating is essential but I always bitch that it works best when you least need it and a good cover saves a lot of work . 2008 MY Supercharged
