For those that think a 5.0 SC is too expensive to run

Taken today on the M25 - granted I wasn't in a hurry but when you compare this MPG to my previous 4.4 V8 BMW petrol Range Rover its positively frugal ! Cool

I've got 25mpg out of my BMW 4.4 on the motorway. Reset the counter and cruise at a steady 65mph for a few miles, what does the 5ltr SC do if you do the same?

My 2003 4.4 never got past 18mpg - and that was down hill with a prevailing wind 😀 we don't buy these for fuel economy but I was pleasantly surprised with what the 2011 5.0SC is retuning. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

A trip from Yorkshire to the south coast down the M6 and M5 last year got me a full 25mpg in my 4.4 bmw engine although I was going at a steady 65mph.It does make me laugh however when you spend 75 grand on a motor,£400 tax ,who knows what to insure and I dread to think what the depreciation is ,why on earth would you be worried what it did to the gallon.I for one ,if I could afford a newer 5.0 wouldn't give a damn if it did 5mpg!!!!

My jag has the 4.2 litre version of the engine and only weighs 1600 Kg as its all aluminium, but the best I've ever got out of it is 20MPG
