Fair enough. It's frustrating for the dealer technician because we don't get paid to do a job twice, so you can see where my frustration peaks at this TSB.

Hi,

Think my car has possibly developed this fault.

2011 4.4TDV8. full tank of diesel but gauge is only showing about 1/4 full (130 miles left on the computer )

Gauge is stable though and doesn't flick about...

Is this really tank out to fix ?

Just when I thought all my faults had all settled down !!!! 2011 4.4 TDV8

You don't need to take the tank out but you will want to drive around for a bit to get your fuel level down before attempting it.

Use the search function on here - lots of people have done it and there are detailed instructions and hints and tips. eg cut the carpet Very Happy 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

I think you'll find the TSB on this link

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2014/SB-10102562-9340.pdf

I've done it on ours with simple crimp connectors whilst repairing the securing bridge on the intank pump. Do all the connections in there whilst at it.

It can be done from inisde the car, is easier of the tank is well below 1/4 full. Mine's diesel, but if doing petrol, take precautions against sparks etc. Cheers

Brilliant !

Thank you for that.

Ive just filled the tank unfortunately so will have to wait till the level goes down.

Mine is a diesel, If only I had bought a 5.0SC I wouldn't have to wait so long for the level to drop !!!!! 2011 4.4 TDV8

Well, that's got to be the best reason for massive fuel consumption I've heard Very Happy

I found when getting into the tank removing the external fuel lines from the tank lid gave easier access space. Pliers on the left in this photo helped greatly.

 Cheers
